When is it enough?

(I had another topic planned for my newsletter. I had another topic planned for Medium. And, I can’t write that right now.)

Meme with black writing on a white background: Planned Parenthood isn’t killing children. You’re thinking of the NRA.

The very same people who don’t trust women to make their own medical decisions want to trust every angry white boy with an AR-15.

I’m so tired of these Christofascists and their hypocrisy to think a clump of cells without organs is more important than, not just women because they hate them, but actual breathing little children who were days from summer vacation.

(And if you think a Black 18YO could get into an altercation with police and saunter off to still commit mass homicide, you must not live in the same country where little Black boys are gunned down by police for holding toys or phones and where licensed Black gun owners are gunned down at traffic stops by the trigger-happy “thin blue line.)

The same blend of racism and sexism Bell Hooks wrote about in “Ain’t I A Woman” bleeds through every action of the current Evangelical Republican party. The same capitalism-excused violence infused with Patriarchal Christianity that fueled cruelty during slavery is still burning with glee in the eyes of the Capitol insurrectionists who thought violence would get their way, in the eyes of the people punching flight attendants and waitresses over masks and burning books about penguin dads and gay rabbits. It’s all the same hate, just flickering out in different ways like a forest fire licking at the tops of trees as it churns the underbrush

If you’re voting Republican for the “unborn,” better go wash all that blood off your hands from the women who will die from your religion, but also the blood from the dead schoolchildren in Texas, the dead shoppers in Buffalo, the dead worshippers in California, the next massacre that’s statistically days away.

This song, released in 1999, is still all too true.
